Fort Canning MRT Station, Liang Court Shopping Mall

There's a new mrt line that's recently opened and it was called the Downtown Line. It was the longest underground and driverless MRT line in Singapore. We had the opportunity to try the train before opening day, so I decided to hop on the free ride to Fort Canning Station. I did not opt to go every station just because of the free ride, which many people did.

With so many lines connecting to most part of Singapore, it is very convenient especially to those who do not drive.

Been a long time since I visited Liang Court Shopping Mall. Opposite the mall is Fort Canning Park, I did not attempt to climb the hill cause it was a hot day, will try on another occasion if possible.

There's a Japanese Supermarket in the basement of Liang Court, I like the ambience in there, as if I was in Japan. Everything here is so Japanese, mostly Japanese products.

Fort Canning Park - Part 2

Continuing from yesterday's post, near the entrance of the Fort Canning Park, is this little Spice Garden. It is so interesting, I wish I got more time to explore the area.

Displays of some of the spices from the plants found in the garden.

Exhibits of the plants. I simply dont have the time to take closer shot of the exhibits cause the whole group is waiting for me to finish my photography...lol.

This one is really very interesting. Never see a nutmeg tree before.

Closer look at the nutmeg on display.

Rows and rows of nutmeg trees.
Geez, I really wish I got more time to explore all this wonders in the park.

Fort Canning Park - Part 1

This is Fort Canning Park. I just visited the entrance of the park, did not really venture right into it cause I was on another appointment and there were more than 10 people with me. They dont have the patience to accompany me into the park...lol.

The gate in gothic style lead the visitor into the park, where a Christian cemetery used to stand. Built in 1846, these gates have since become landmarks of Fort Canning Hill. Note the letters above both gates - IHS - standing for Iota Heta Sigm , the first three letters of the Greek word for Jesus. You can read more about it in here.

There are plenty of greenery around the entrance and more inside the park.
I love this huge bird nest fern.

Saw these white little flowers in the background they are Vinca Rosea. Their leaves are used as anti cancerous agent. Did not have the close up photo of the white flower (they did not turn out clear.)
More photos on the spice garden tomorrow.
