Singapore River Hongbao 2016 - Lanterns

There were many beautiful lanterns at the Singapore River Hongbao 2016. The theme for this year is “Journey to the West" being the year of the Monkey. Journey to the west is a famous story based on the monkey and his master (a buddhist monk) with two other discples on a mission to obtain sacred texts (sÅ«tras) and returned after many trials and much suffering. During their journey they encountered many demons and spirits.

A must have mascot for every Chinese New Year, the God of Fortune.

Skywatch Friday - Tightrope walkers at River Hong Bao 2015

The highlight at the Singapore River Hong Bao 2015 must be the Tightrope Walkers from China.

For the first six days of the carnival, two members of the Acrobatic Troupe of Xinjiang China, Adili Wuxor and Abulaiti-Maijun, will perform stunts on a 60m-long tightrope, at least 20m off the ground. They hold several world records for tightrope-related stunts. - See more from Straitstimes.

Sorry if the video is shaky cause too crowded and people have been bumping into me.

Video 1 - The tightrope walker trying to balance upside down on the rope.

Video 2 - Second performer walking blindfolded.

Video 3 - Performer cycling on the unicycle high up in the sky.

Video 4 - Two performers performing at the same time, crossing over one another and dancing on the rope.

This is my contribution to sky watching. For other sky watchers, please hop over to Skywatch Blog
