Singapore Sports Hub - Outside of the Hub

There's a volley ball facilities near the hub and it comes with sands. Thought the teenagers looked like playing volleyball at the beach.

Kids having fun at the water fountain facing the river.

The office building facing the hub are those in the business district. Love the beautiful scenery although it was a bit cloudy cause it was going to rain. So thankful the haze did not return this year and hopefully not for the rest of the year. Last year the haze was so bad because of the forest fire in Indonesia.

Water Sports Courses available at the sports hub, more information from the official website.

It was so serene and peaceful near the river that eagle too loves visiting the sports hub hahaha. The eagle was flying above me, was actually flying quite low but I was not fast enough to take the eagle in flight at low level.

Familar landscape of the Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands. The top portion of the Marina Bay Sands really looked like a ship.

Singapore Sports Hub - The New Stadium

This is the new stadium replacing the old stadium. The 35 hectare Sports Hub cost $1.3 billion to built with a 55,000 capacity.

The retractable roof provide comfort cooling for spectators, which when completed will be the largest free spanning structure in the world.

Thought the seats in red and white looked so beautiful, the same colour as the red and white Singapore Flag.

The whole stadium has a dome shaped, it also has running tracks just outside the gate.

You can now catch the inside view of the National Stadium via the West End at Gate 1.

WEST END OPENING HOURS:

If you are curious on how the old National Stadium looked like, you can view my old post.

Singapore Sports Hub/Kallang Wave Mall - Rock Climbing

Finally the Singapore Sports Hub was completed, so we decided to head to the new stadium to admire the beautiful building. Will post details about the building in another post. The complex costs $1.3 billion to build.

We took the MRT and alighted at the Stadium Station. The Stadium Station was named after the stadium in the vicinity. It was designed by WOHA Architects and was awarded with Design Of The Year of the President's Design Award 2010.

There's a mall beside the Sports Hub Building and was named Kallang Wave Mall. The wave (known as the Mexican wave in the anglosphere outside North America) is an example of metachronal rhythm achieved in a packed stadium when successive groups of spectators briefly stand, yell, and raise their arms. Immediately upon stretching to full height, the spectator returns to the usual seated position. In Singapore the wave is known as the Kallang Wave, and is widely seen as a symbol of Singaporean national identity. It is routinely performed at football matches involving the Singapore national football team or Singapore LIONSXII. The Kallang Wave is named after the location of the National Stadium in Kallang. Source: Wikipedia.

The National Stadium was demolished and the new Singapore Sports Hub replaced the old stadium.

Inside the mall, there's a lot of restaurants, food court, a hypermart, shops, etc.

But the one that caught most people's eyes must be the Rock Climbing Wall.

The kids were fantastic, they show no fear and able to climb with ease. You can check the rates from their website.
